The revolt that withers
"Now in the morning, as He returned to the city, He was hungry. And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away," Matthew 21.18-19
Was it the fig tree’s fault that it wasn’t in season to bear fruit?
Yet, this was not reason enough to save it from withering all the way to the root and die.
The Lord Jesus did not accept an explanation or justification for the fact that He couldn’t find what He needed, when He needed it and this is because He was the Son of God, and could not go through the embarrassment of not finding what He was looking for, of not having what He needed, not having His needs met and His hunger satisfied.
He was the Son and heir of the Sovereign God, and could not have His Father’s name be embarrassed, so the fig tree had to be exterminated because it represented shame.
It cannot be different, in any way, in the life of those who are children of the Almighty. Everything that brings us shame, embarrassment and humiliation should wither to the root.
The children of God should hate anything that brings shame to their Father, because they solely live to glorify Him.
Your shame is the shame of God.
Your needs are the shame of God.
Your hunger is the shame of God.
Your failure is the shame of God.
A fruitless life is the shame of God.
There are no excuses or explanations for shame. It is shame and that’s it! And that is why it should wither all the way to its root and disappear from our lives.
The Lord Jesus did not accept the lack of fruit on a tree. This angered Him to the point where He cursed it. If this is what happened with a fig tree, which does not have the power to glorify Him, imagine how he feels about the lives of those who are called children and servants of God?
REVOLT and desire to wither away your shame to the root!
The Lord Jesus exterminated what brought Him shame, now it's up to us to do the same and use our REVOLT to wither our shame to the root.
