Want to see God?

There was a recently converted sailor on a particular ship who was being insulted and ridiculed for his newly found faith.

One day the captain called the entire crew up on deck, took a telescope and began scanning the horizon. He searched and searched and his crew we curious to know what he was looking for.

Finally the captain put down the telescope and addressed the Christian:

- I’ve looked everywhere. I’ve searched to the point of exhaustion and haven’t caught a glimpse of God.

At which the sailor got up, took the Bible, opened it to Matthew 5.8 and read this rare jewel from our Beloved Master:

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
