What We Believe

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writings as fully inspired by God and accept them as the Supreme and Final Authority for faith and life.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born by the Virgin Mary and is true God and true Man.

We believe that God created man in His own image; that man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death, physical and spiritual; that all human beings inherit a sinful nature which causes actual transgression involving personal guilt.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, a substitutional sacrifice according to the Scriptures and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus, His ascension into heaven and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate.

We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory.

We believe that those who repent of their sins, receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith and hold fast to Him are born again by the Holy Spirit and become children of God.

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, empowering believers for service, with accompanying supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit and in fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the divinely ordained ministries of apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher.

We believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust, the eternal blessings of the redeemed, and the eternal banishment of those who have rejected salvation.

We believe that the one true Church consists of all those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit; that the local church on earth should take its character from this conception of the spiritual Church and therefore new birth and personal confession of the Christ are essential for church membership.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances: baptism in water and the Lord¹s Supper, to be observed as acts of obedience and as a continual witness to the facts of the Christian faith; that baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of the Lord Jesus in burial and resurrection and that the Lord's Supper is the partaking of the body and blood of our Savior in remembrance of His sacrifice until He comes.

We believe that divine healing seen in the Old Testament and the New is an integral part of the Gospel.

We believe the Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see God.

We believe in sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of the new birth and continuing until the end of one's life.

The UCKG church in Haiti

As neighbours to earthquake-hit Haiti, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) in the Dominican Republic has appealed for international assistance in the form of nonperishable food, clothing and clean water. This appeal for the destitute inHaiti is a demonstration of solidarity has that goes beyond nationality, race and religion.

The humanitarian drive was started by the UCKG in the Dominican Republic last week. On Wednesday, 10th February, Bishop Julio César, Pastor Alex, head of the T-Ayudo Foundation and consular representatives of the Dominican Republic in Haiti gathered with many volunteers in Pétionville, a suburb of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

They assembled the donations of nonperishable food, water and clothes to help their brothers and sisters in Haiti. Starting from 3 am they packed trucks to capacity and found they had far more donations than space on the available transport. The remainder would have to await the next transport shipment. Bishop Pedro, responsible for evangelism in Haiti, said: “We’re doing what the Lord Jesus taught us. We are not only saying words but also giving spiritual food and humanitarian aid to all these people.”

Recalling the horrors of living through an earthquake, Bishop Pedro said: “The feeling is indescribable. We were busy evangelising at the time and we saw people start to run … I felt the earth shaking, but only after a few seconds realised what was happening …The solidarity of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God has been and is still very important. We are here and we will continue, come what may … where the afflicted and needy are, then the Lord Jesus leads.”

The bishops and volunteers prayed for Haiti and promised there would be future drives to contribute to the relief of those who lost everything in the earthquake. Appeals were made to people around the world to show their solidarity with those who had endured so much in Haiti and who needed assistance in many ways.

Are you a tired Christian?

Rainy days come and go, and sometimes we can even get used to them, but not when the rain is pouring down and everything around seems grey and sad! You want to go to sleep and only wake up next month to give plenty of time for it all to disappear. Every now and again, this feeling comes to mind, especially at a certain time of the month — when 75% of our being is pure emotion!

But as soon as the grey skies are gone, we wonder why we made such a big deal out of it in the first place. What were we thinking when the idea of disappearing from the face of the earth was so constant in our minds? Why do we make such a big deal out of small things we find here and there?

Our Lord knew this when He once said: “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light,” (Matthew 11.29,30).

He knew how dramatic we can be sometimes, especially when things just seem to be going against us, and yet His amazing patience in taking our burdens in His Hands whenever we come to Him can be so rewarding.

You’d think that being a Christian would be another unnecessary yoke upon you — as if we’d have to be this perfect holy person separate from everybody else in the world. But here in this verse, our Lord says, “My yoke is easy and My burden is light”! Why do Christians feel so overburdened then? So much pressure from this religion or that church – what’s wrong then?

Our Lord is gentle and lowly in heart. He said we can find rest for our soul and that His yoke is easy. If you ever feel pressured or burdened because of anything going on in your life, all you need to do is leave it all in His Hands. He will not demand anything that you cannot do. He’s patient and if you don’t have the strength to change everything about yourself at once, He’ll give you that strength and little by little, when you’re ready to take another step towards Him, His open arms will welcome you.

This is the Christian life I know. Everything else that is said about Christianity, that imposes and demands things of people in such a way that it seems as if we were prisoners, are unnecessary burdens that can sometimes drive people away from God. God wants to help, not drive you away. He wants to add and not take away the partial peace you hold onto so tight. His burden is so light so that whenever you are too weak to use your faith, He won’t judge you, but will instead guide you through the paths you need to get rid of the situation.

Think of Him as a Loving Father. Someone who is there for you no matter what. You’ve done something terrible? He’s still taking your side, though He might not agree with what you’ve done, He’ll help you get out of the rut you may have fallen into. Stop placing such a burden and yoke upon yourself – His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Doesn’t that say it all?

In faith,

Cristiane Cardoso

He will return!

Not everyone believes. Even among those who believe, only few await Him. But He will return. The latest events that have taken place around the world are evident signs of this. Tsunamis, earthquakes, heavy rains, epidemics and famine have claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Not to mention drugs, violence and accidents. Everything seems to be pointing to the end.

“Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” (Luke 21:10,11)

“Nation against nation” refers to wars among countries. “Kingdom against kingdom” refers to religious conflicts. And a religious conflict is worse than a war between countries. For this reason, Jesus said, “Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death” (Matthew 10:21).

This atmosphere of terror and death already exists. And it tends to get worse. He is coming back soon. But it’s not the end yet.

In the past, the end of times was a subject only talked about in the church. Today, scientists are so sure of the end of times that they talk about it openly. One of the most important TV channels in the world is always showing reports about the subject. The worldwide catastrophes seem to be announcing the end. But, before it happens, there will be the Great Tribulation—when the Antichrist will rule for a period of 7 years.

At the moment, we are living in the period of light affliction. And when it finishes, the Lord Jesus will take His faithful followers. They will not experience the Great Tribulation. The false, “pirate” Christians, on the other hand, will be harmed by the fury of the Great Tribulation.

Those who live will see it…

Breaking the Cycles of Failure

Ever heard the phrase, “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer”? How about Murphy’s Law, “If anything can possibly go wrong, it will”? And the old adage, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”?

Like a hamster running at top speed on his wheel, Bill gave his heart and soul to making a success of his business. He borrowed and invested large sums of money, trained technicians, worked tirelessly 7 days a week, took night courses in business management, got all his legal matters in order, and in one month, found himself close to bankruptcy and caught in a lawsuit by a dishonest employee. Looking back on his life, he sees a recurring cycle – failure in school, failure in marriage, failure as a father, failure in business endeavors, defeat after defeat no matter how hard he tries.

Jeanette never knew a happy family, and was willing to marry the first man to take her in. She determined to give her children what she never had. But as more of them came along, she found that her husband was no better than the father who had abandoned her. Her unstable emotions created an atmosphere of frustration among her young children who grew to resent and rebel against her. Now she prays in tears every night, worried about her sons in prison and her runaway daughter.

It’s not like they haven’t tried to change their lives or break out of their cycles of misery, but the impact of each failure hammers the thought into their heads, “this is your destiny, this is who you are.” And each attempt to fight back grows weaker and weaker until they just give up hope.

“It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.” (Psalm 18:32)

Wouldn’t that be nice if it could really happen? Of course it can, and it depends on you – if what God promises is only a wish, then it won’t be anything more than just positive thinking. But if you choose to base your life on what He says, you will be amazed at how soon the downward spiral of negative events begin to reverse their course.

Why not start right now? At The Universal Church, the pastors are ready to help you establish new cycles of success and blessings that will affect the rest of your year, and potentially the rest of your life. 7 Fridays of Breaking Cycles of Failure starts Friday, February 5th in all of our locations. Take part in this total transformation seminar where you will receive strong prayers of deliverance and powerful teaching over these 7 weeks.

Stop the cycle. Break the pattern. Cut off the root. And just see what happens then!

The Seal of guarantee

Nothing in this world is more important than guaranteeing your soul’s eternal salvation. Jesus said: What good is it for a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul? It’s impossible to gain it and keep it without help from the Holy Spirit. Only He is able toteach, guide, strengthen, sustain and keep those who follow His Son on the right path.

Every branch that doesn’t produce fruit will be cut down and only the branches that bear fruit will remain. The Holy Spirit is the nourishing sap that gives life to the branch. Without it, it wilts.

I have witnessed many people who were cured from numerous illnesses and diseases, and freed from all sorts of evil spirits, who became financially stable, accomplishing wonders by faith, only to later abandon it. Unfortunately, many forget that if they conquer by faith, then they lose by doubting. Faith needs to be kept alive, otherwise it evaporates.

Only those who have been sealed with the Holy Spirit remain firm. They are the true “called and chosen”.

God has called many but few have been chosen. Divine injustice? No. Absolutely not. Just like salvation is offered to everyone, the same goes for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The problem is that not everyone is willing to sacrifice their life. What can we do?

Everything needs care and maintenance. The same is true for the greatest spiritual blessing: salvation. The Holy Spirit is the Flame that keeps faith from burning out. He is the Seal of Guarantee to eternal life.

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me.” (Acts 1.8)
