The final destination
I wonder how many have left this world with no hope. Some report
feeling the terror of hell on the verge of death. Still, they refused to
humble themselves before the One who could save them: Jesus.
Some who never worried about the final destination of their souls
experienced the despair of falling off a bottomless cliff at that fatal
moment.
This does not happen to the righteous. They may feel physical pain,
but they never lose the assurance of where their souls are headed. As so
they experience the paradox of actually rejoicing in spirit when the
time comes for them to enter into joy of their Lord.
Meanwhile, the unbelieving think or ask, "Where is your God? Why doesn’t He save you from death?"
The answer comes from above, through the prophet:
"The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart;
merciful men are taken away while no one considers that the righteous is
taken away from evil. He shall enter into peace; they shall rest in
their beds, each one walking in his uprightness." Isaiah 57.1-2
