The cry of the dead
Our bad choices result in bad results. For this reason, each one of
us must learn to think before making decisions, especially when it comes
to eternity.
Of course we should deal with and take care of our needs in this
world, but we must learn to prioritize our spiritual life, and the
secret is: "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness..." Matthew 6.33 This should be the foundation of our lives.
Even though we have problems and go through difficult moments, as
hard as they might be, the most important thing is to pay attention to
our spiritual life, and not to circumstantial problems.
There is no point in being perfect on the outside, when there is
depression, loneliness, fear and resentment on the inside. In this case,
nothing and no one will be able to help us. It is useless trying to
fill that inner emptiness with things of this world, because it is not
going to produce what they need.
Jesus tells us of one particular event that serves as a reference for the future of our soul. The Scripture says:
“There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. But
there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid
at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from
the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. So
it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s
bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.” Luke 16.19-22
When a person dies having been righteous during his entire life, that
is, having lived according to the standards of God—not because he
followed a religion, but because he obeyed the Word of God (note that
not everyone who attends a church obeys the Word of God)—no matter the
social class or the position he occupied in society, if he walked in
righteousness, when he dies, the angels immediately come to take his
soul to the Kingdom of Justice. This is an unimaginable treasure, worth
more than all the gold of this world, because it is a certainty that
accompanies the person until his death.
"And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom." Luke 16.23
When a person lives in sin, when he steals, keeps grudges, hatred,
bitterness, that is, everything that is not good, when he dies, the
angels will not come to rescue his soul, because he died in injustice.
God takes the just to a special place, but those who refused to
surrender to Jesus will be taken straight to the grave. We know that a
person who dies without Jesus is taken down to hell; that is the place
of the unjust.
Those who want to save their souls must stay away from injustice,
because that is not appropriate for those who want eternal salvation.
The souls of those who are in hell are crying out because they are in
torment.
Those who were born of God do not fear death; on the contrary, they
even mock it because it no longer has power over their lives. But when
there’s no assurance, they live and die in torment. The more time
passes, the more they fear death.
God allowed the rich man in hell to see Abraham, who was an example
of faith, the friend of God, to show the difference between those who
live in justice and those who do not.
“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and
send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my
tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’” Luke 16.24
Torment is infinitely worse than physical pain; the latter can be relieved with medication, but nothing can ease torment.
He was in hell not because he was rich, but because he relied solely on his wealth, as many rely on their own strength.
What have you put your trust in: religion, family, wealth, people?
“But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you
received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he
is comforted and you are tormented.” Luke 16.25
It might seem that all rich people will go to hell and the poor will
go to heaven, but it is not so. Both the poor and the rich can go to
hell; it all depends only on the person. They are the ones who decide to
live a life of justice or injustice.
When a person dies, he or she will go a place they like. If they live
a life of injustice while on earth, then hell will claim their souls
when they die.
“And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf
fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can
those from there pass to us.” Luke 16.26
Once dead, a person cannot move from hell to heaven.
"Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send
him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify
to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ Abraham said to
him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ And he
said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they
will repent.’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the
prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead."
Luke 16.27-31
In fact, those who died and are in hell right now are crying out
desperately so that those who are still alive may not go to the same
place. They are desperate to avoid that their loved ones are also cast
into hell and have to go through the same torment.
Every day we work hard to save your soul, but we are not responsible for the life you lead or the decisions you make.
Our prayers cannot help those who died, because each one of us
decides where we are going to spend eternity whilst we are still alive.
This is common sense, intelligence!
